What’s in my cart? Whole Foods edition

08.23.2017

Remember a couple weeks back when I partnered with Inspired by This to share my go-to shopping list for Trader Joe’s? Well we’re back at it, and this time we’re perusing the aisles of Whole Foods! I know grocery shopping can sometimes feel like an overwhelming task. There are so many products out there, and it’s hard to decide which ones are actually healthy choices. Here are a few of the products that I just can’t leave the store without, and in the full post on Inspired by This, we’re breaking down ALL of the best options and sharing a giant list that you can pin for your next trip to Whole Foods!

Produce

Yes, it’s definitely pricier than Trader Joe’s, butย I love the selection, quality, and variety of produce at Whole Foods. There are tons of choices when it comes to seasonal fruits and veggies, greens (and microgreens!), and fresh herbs. When it comes to making salads or veggie platters, I always think the more color the better, and Whole Foods is a great spot to stock up fun produce like watermelon radishes, heirloom carrots, purple cauliflower, and even edible flowers.ย

Grain-free crackers & chips

Finding healthy swaps for salty, carby snacks (that also happen to be delicious) makes me so happy!ย Jilz Crackers,ย Simple Millsย Crackers (I’m addicted to the rosemary flavor!), andย Siete Foodsย tortilla chips are all grain-free and made from high-quality ingredients like nuts and seeds. Pair these with someย HOPE Hummusย or guacamole and you’ve got yourself a perfect snack!ย

Organic pasture-raised eggsย – best quality eggs you can get at the grocery store! I loveย Vital Farmsย brand.

Siete Foods Tortillasย ย – Always in my Whole Foods cart! Like the chips, these tortillas are grain-free and made with super clean ingredients. Their Cassava & Chia tortillas or Almond Flour tortillas are a must-try for your Taco Tuesdays, quesadilla cravings, and breakfast tacos!

Healthier granolaย – I’m a huge fan ofย Kitchfixย granola andย Purely Elizabeth, which are full of healthy fats from nuts and seeds and lightly sweetened with maple syrup or coconut sugar.ย

Sushiย – Definitely one of my favorite grab & go lunches! Opt for a rice-less garden roll with salmon or tuna, or grab some sashimi and chopped veggies from the salad bar to make your ownย poke bowls at home! Don’t forget to pair it with Coconut Aminos instead of soy sauce – it’s a fraction of the sodium and totally soy-free!

While we’re on the topic of fish, don’t forget to stock up on wild-caught fish while you’re at Whole Foods! I like to buy a big bag of frozen wild sockeye salmon fillets so I always have something on hand for a quick & healthy dinner.

Cauliflower crust pizzaย –ย Caulipowerย Pizza is a a great brand that you can find in the frozen section. There are 3 options: three cheese, Mediterranean, or Just the Crust. Buy the crust and all of your favorite toppings for a fun DIY pizza night at home!ย

Sweetsย – These are some of my favorite Whole Foods treats forย mindfully indulgingย my sweet tooth:
Eating Evolvedย chocolate bars & coconut butter cups โ€“ the almond sea salt or crunchy caramel bars are delicious! They’re made with clean ingredients and sweetened with coconut sugar. In terms of the coconut butter cups, I’m hooked on the mint cream & caramel sea salt. ย
Barnanaย organic banana bites or coconut banana bites – made with just 1 or 2 ingredients (banana & coconut)
Simple Millsย naturally gluten-free crunchy cookies โ€“ the chocolate chip cookies taste like Famous Amos! Remember those?
Hail Merry macaroonsย – so yummy!
